1:1 scale 3D printing of excavation no. 8 in Faida, region of ancient Assyria
THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DISCOVERY
Research conducted by the Friulian University in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, in the heart of Assyria, has brought to light 13 impressive rock reliefs along a large irrigation canal dug into the rock almost 5 meters wide and just under 2 meters in height, which portray the Assyrian sovereign represented twice, at the ends of each panel, in the presence of the main Assyrian deities standing on pedestals placed on the backs of animals or mythological beings.
The faithful reproduction of excavation no. 8 in Faida was possible thanks to the photogrammetric survey of the archaeological site. The model was made in 3D printing in ABS, divided into many glued and skillfully plastered tiles to give the surface continuity.
Subsequently the surface was treated and painted to restore an appearance faithful to natural stone.

True 1:1 scale reproduction of archaeological finds from the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia
FINDS "HERCULES" AND "WARRIOR"
Archaeological finds dating back to the Iron Age. The Warrior is kept in the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia, while the Hercules is in the Antiquarium of Cervignano.
The subjects were photographed and subsequently reproduced with 3D modeling programs.
The ABS printing and subsequent coloring resulted in a copy faithful to the original.
The Hercules was used for interactive educational activities promoted by the museum for children.
STELE "ON BASS"
theater
John of Udine
Precise reproduction of the 1:1 scale stele of the muse Bassilla from the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia
STELE "ON BASS"
The stele, found in 1805 in a necropolis south of Aquileia, recalls an actress who lived in the 3rd century AD, portrayed in the act of making a greeting gesture. The Greek epitaph testifies to the woman's oriental origins, celebrating her versatile talent and success on the stages of numerous cities. It was dedicated to her by the actor Heraclides, probably a member of the same theater company.
The stele was reproduced by scanning in high definition.
Subsequently the file was prepared for 3D printing and printed in ABS.
The final coloring gives the stele a realistic appearance.
COAT OF ARMS "RUSSIAN FRONT" Remembrance Park
on the Hill of SAN GIUSTO
Trieste
Copy from the "Eastern Front Badge of the Russian Campaign"
COAT OF ARMS FOR THE WAR MEMORIAL
MISSING ON THE RUSSIAN FRONT
The “Russian Front” emblem was copied from the original "Eastern Front Badge of the Russian Campaign" to obtain a print file to be reproduced in 3D. The epoxy resin replica is currently placed on the monument "To the Giulians and Dalmatians fallen and missing on the Russian front" located in the Remembrance Park on the San Giusto hill in Trieste.
The ABS model served as a matrix for the silicone rubber cast from which a replicable epoxy resin positive was obtained.

BAS-RELIEF "GIRL WITH THE TURBANT" BY VERMEER
Vermeer's famous painting "Girl with a Turban", better known as "Girl with a Pearl Earring", was transformed into a bas-relief, a tactile painting, using 3D digital sculpture modeling software and printed in 3D in ABS.

HIGH RELIEF "VIRGIN ANNOUNCED" BY
ANTONELLO DA MESSINA
Three-dimensional reproduction starting from a fifteenth-century sacred art painting "the Virgin Annunziata" by Antonello da Messina. The painting was transformed into a high relief using 3D digital sculpture modeling software. Thanks to 3D printing it is possible to touch the two-dimensionality of the canvas and also allow blind and visually impaired people to "see" a painting.
